• Empowering KCPS Students: Inside the Kansas City Public Schools Education Foundation

Since 2012, the Kansas City Public Schools Education Foundation (KCPSEF) has operated as a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit partner to Kansas City Public Schools. Operating financially independent of the district, the Foundation secures supplemental funding for impactful educational programs that go beyond standard school budgets.

Driven by Core Values & Community Leadership

Governed by an all-volunteer board of local community leaders, the Foundation works to enhance teacher resources and elevate student achievement across the district. Every initiative is guided by five core values:

    • Celebration: Uplifting and recognizing the achievements of KCPS teachers and students
    • Integrity: Upholding high ethical standards, trust, and reliability in all operations.
    • Inclusive: Engaging the broader community to ensure equitable distribution of resources
    • Stewardship: Managing all donated resources responsibly and transparently.
    • Dedication: Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to student development and success.

Supporting One of the Region’s Most Diverse School Systems

As the 12th largest school system in Missouri, KCPS serves more than 15,000 students across 34 academic locations, including elementary, middle, high, signature, and early learning schools. KCPS is the most ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse district in the region, with students speaking more than 50 languages. Backed by approximately 2,500 dedicated teachers, the Foundation ensures these students have access to the programs and tools they need to succeed.

Get Involved and Make an Impact

Every student can achieve great things when provided with the right opportunities. Community members can help further this mission by reviewing the Foundation’s accomplishments or getting involved directly:

Together, we can continue to champion KCPS students and support the educators guiding them every day.
